Macon is home for Stewart Septic Services. Since 1994, Erwin Stewart and his crew have kept septic systems working across Macon-Bibb County and all of Middle Georgia.
Set on the Ocmulgee River at the heart of Middle Georgia, Macon is a city with deep roots — from the earthen mounds at Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park to the Hay House, Mercer University, the Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House and the pink blooms of the International Cherry Blossom Festival every March. Since Macon and Bibb County consolidated in 2014, one government covers the whole county, from downtown neighborhoods out to the rural edges. Macon is also home for Stewart Septic Services, a family-owned company based right here on Estes Road.
While much of the urban core is on city sewer, a large share of homes across Macon-Bibb County still rely on septic systems — older houses in established neighborhoods, newer homes built on larger lots and farms and rural properties on the outskirts. Many of those systems have been in the ground for decades. Keeping them on a regular pumping and inspection schedule is the best way to avoid surprise backups and costly drain field repairs.
Macon also keeps a lot of businesses running on septic, from restaurants and churches to shops and farms outside the sewer lines. We provide commercial septic service, grease trap pumping and holding tank and lift station service, and as a company listed by the Georgia Department of Public Health as a certified septic tank installer, we install new and replacement systems for homes and businesses across the county.
Macon sits right on the Fall Line, where the red clay hills of the Piedmont meet the sandier soils of the Coastal Plain. That means soil conditions — and how well a drain field drains — can change a lot from one side of the county to the other. Add heavy summer thunderstorms and the big oaks and pines that shade so many Macon yards, and drain field saturation and root intrusion are problems we see regularly. A drain field evaluation tells you what's really going on underground.
Erwin Stewart started Stewart Septic Services in 1994, and the company has grown the old-fashioned way — through Macon neighbors telling neighbors. We're BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, we answer emergency calls 24/7, and our customers say the same thing again and again: fast service, fair prices and no upselling. "My neighbor recommended their service and it was a great experience. Every employee I dealt with was knowledgeable, professional, and kind. I thought my tank needed to be cleaned but they told me the problem was only a faulty float valve. They could have taken advantage of the opportunity to do un-necessary work but didn’t."
